Want To Be A Filmmaker? Well, How Do You Handle Rejection?...

Rejected
By Blue Green
As a filmmaker you must be comfortable with others not believing in you. I have been told in the past not to quit my day job, that my work was amateur and that I was just playing filmmaker. So how do you cope with this? CONTINUE to follow your passion and keep making films. Don’t let it get to you, make films that you want to make and do the best job with the resources that you currently have.
I have met several “filmmakers” who have never actually made a film or even thought of an idea for a film. Don’t be a “jaw bone” and tell the world you make films, if you don’t. You must be a “backbone” and do the hard work and create films or good ideas, to be a filmmaker. As long as you keep making films and coming up with good ideas, you will get bette. As long as you can MANAGE to make at least one film, you can proudly call yourself a filmmaker.
Nay sayers are everywhere and they have been there since the beginning of time. The reason that PEOPLE question your ability is simple, they can’t do it themselves. So, who cares what others think of you? Pursue your dreams and you will be happy, and really, isn’t that what it’s all about? Just because others don’t believe in you doesn’t mean you should give up hope on your dreams.
It’s natural to get mad when people don’t believe in you, so don’t feel bad when you do get angry. But remember that anger is a gift, as long as you learn how to use it properly to breed positivity! Think of the negativity as the fuel for your fire and use that fire to prove them wrong.
The best filmmakers in the world will tell you one thing, don’t quit and keep making films. If you don’t have a camera or production crew, get out a pad of paper and a pencil and write down your ideas. This way when you do become successful has a filmmaker, and you will, you will have an arsenal of ideas for you to produce.
So to be a filmmaker you really only need one thing an idea and the will and drive to succeed. Put others negativity aside and go out and make the films that you want to make and achieve your dreams, regardless of what other say.
