One of the biggest names in the science fiction genre today, James Cameron didn’t start out as a successful movie DIRECTOR. It’s hard to imagine a time when his name wasn’t synonymous with grand scale epics, but Cameron dealt with many of the problems young filmmakers face at the start of their career (money, food, fame etc).
Watch this TED talk where he talks about his early life, what inspired him to choose filmmaking as a career and his love for science fiction. Also check out this discussion he had at the Hero Complex Film Festival where he recalls his “angry wannabe filmmaker” phase when he lived on McDonald’s (his mom cut coupons for him!), coffee and the money he made painting posters for bad movies.
Get Inspired!
