The Bay Area is teeming with indie film groups, but they all seem to be emulating main stream product as well as process. These groups seem to produce an awful lot of crime dramas, late-night, sketch-comedy-inspired shorts and zombie films, and the members appear to aspire to well-tread, Hollywood-inspired identities/personas (complete with paparazzi posings at screenings). That's all fine, but it's ubiquitous already in this culture. Are you looking for something different? This group is an attempt to bring together those filmmakers who are authentically independent in spirit and imagination; filmmakers who are trying to introduce new, alternative and inspired visions into the culture while remaining fully grounded in reality. You may be working on an experimental art film, or an unique animated short, or an innovative fantasy or science fiction film, or a documentary on an unusual or esoteric subject. Or you may just find the industrial model for the process of film production to be uninteresting. This group is for both new and experienced filmmakers who have an interest in shepherding a personal cinematic vision into the world, their own or someone else's, and are looking for kindred spirits with whom to share the adventurous process.
