The Early Works Of David Lynch: THE GRANDMOTHER...

The Grandmother combines animation and 'real' film. The short film deals with a small boy, who is tyrannized by his parents for being incontinent. He creates his own parallel world by planting a semen into a pile of mud in his bed. After some time the pant grows, giving birth to a female figure, his grandmother.

The film includes very little dialogue. Its themes explore the myths of birth, sexuality and death. The Grandmother might be understood as the Grand Mother (Earth), an ancient symbol of the origin of all life and also the imago of femininity.
